A little about me...

An international story . . .
and my brain is still trying to catch up!

oI am a lecturer and researcher in the Department of Biblical Studies at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, where I teach New Testament exegesis and Greek. My research interests form a triad: biblical studies, historiography and narratology. My doctoral thesis was on the narrative and theological value on the thoroughfare motif in Luke’s writings, the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles. My habilitation was on the theological aspect of Greek historiography between Herodotus and Luke.

In addition to my academic work, I have the great pleasure of serving as an Anglican minister at St Ursula’s Church in Bern, Switzerland. My vocation in the Anglican tradition is to serve as a scholar-priest. So, one foot in the academic world and one foot in the church, joyfully bringing them together in dialogue.

I’m married to Lilian, a native Swiss, and I am a proud Swiss citizen. I grew up in the state of Virginia in the United States. We have three grown children and one grandchild, who live in Switzerland.

I've hardly worked in my homeland!
